Star Trek: The Next Generation is an American science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry. This series is a spin-off of the original series; this series begins nearly 100 years after Captain Kirk's five-year mission. This new generation of Starfleet officers will board the U.S.S. Enterprise-D with Captain Jean-Luc Piccard (played by Patrick Stewart) as their leader will embark on a new mission to explore and protect unknown worlds. Star Trek: The Next Generation premiered in September 1987 and ran for seven seasons.
